Â鶹ӰԺ celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

Â鶹ӰԺ Leicester (Â鶹ӰԺ) is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week next week with a series of events aimed at employers and learners.

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is Skills for Life, focusing on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce equipped with future-ready skills.

Â鶹ӰԺ is holding events throughout the week, which runs from February 6 to 13. They which aim to give employers the chance to find out more about the university’s degree programmes and potential learners to discover how to combine work and training and the opportunities available in the region.

“Skills development is a huge focus for us at Â鶹ӰԺ so the theme of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week could not be a better fit,” explained Tasmin Raynor, Head of Apprenticeships.

“We know that, particularly in the East Midlands region, employers struggle to find candidates with the right skills they are looking for to grow their business, particularly in the areas of digital and management and have designed our courses in collaboration with industry to address those issues.

“Apprenticeships give learners the best of both worlds, allowing you to earn a wage and develop a career alongside studying, putting learning into practice straight away. We are looking forward to speaking to employers and learners about the benefits of apprenticeships at Â鶹ӰԺ.”

Among the events being hosted is a Q&A with Sandie Martin, improvement lead at the University Hospitals in Leicester. She graduated from the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship last year with a BA (Hons) in Business Management.

She said: “I have not only grown in confidence I am more independent which has resulted in excelling in my work becoming an Improvement Lead for University Hospitals of Leicester, a role I thoroughly enjoy. I am keen to continue to learn and develop, thank you University Hospitals of Leicester Apprenticeship Scheme and thank you Â鶹ӰԺ Apprenticeships you changed my life.”

Â鶹ӰԺ has more than 600 learners on its apprenticeship programmes blending on-the-job work with studying either online or on campus, supported by a workplace mentor.
